Les Wilmot

Les has been active in theater for more than 11 years. He played Mr. MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie and appeared in The Night of January 16th; Curse You, Jack Dalton; Twelve Angry Jurors; Aquarius to Woodstock; Solid Gold Cadillac; and two radio plays entitled The Whistler and Gunsmoke. In addition, he has recently produced or co-produced four plays having large casts for performance in a big theater.

Les’ interest in things theatrical stemmed from being in a musical group in the 7th grade, in a small private school in Illinois. He traveled throughout the Midwest to other private schools, singing and acting in several operettas.

The showboatersJump ahead 53 years, when Les joined the Showboaters Theatrical Group in Lake Forest’s Sun and Sail Club. He was selected to play Mr. MacAfee in the summertime outdoor theater presentation of “Bye Bye Birdie.” He acted, sang, and danced in this for a run of seven presentations. That “set the hook.”
